The Rapides Foundation has released its Healthy Behaviors Program Grant. Applicants should become familiar with the Letter of Intent details and deadlines located in the RFP in the Key Materials section. All Letters of Intent must be submitted using the Foundation's online application process through the buttons in the right-hand column of this page.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to schedule a call or meeting with the Healthy Behaviors Initiative Program Officer to discuss alignment and feasibility of their Letter of Intent before submission. Please schedule the meeting at least two weeks before the LOI is due. Contact Trayce Snow, Senior Program Officer, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 318-443-3394 to request a meeting.
This Healthy Behaviors Program Grant funding opportunity is to support implementation of evidence-based, community-driven solutions for preventing and reducing overweight and obesity and preventing and controlling tobacco use. Systems of prevention services work better than isolated efforts meaning the best prevention results come from partnerships; therefore, The Rapides Foundation encourages communities to work together across agencies, departments and sectors for planning and implementing interventions and for gaining support from the populations most impacted by them.
This is a competitive grant application process and available grant funding from The Rapides Foundation is limited. Grants of up to $225,000 over a three-year period are available. Applicants must be nonprofit organizations classified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code, or a governmental organization.
Grant proposals should impact residents within the Foundation’s nine-parish service area of: Allen, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Vernon, and Winn parishes.
Applicants should thoroughly review the Request for Proposals and other key documents included in the Key Materials section (in right column) to see full details, application process and proposal requirements.
Proposal Submission Process
The Healthy Behaviors Program Grant funding opportunity consists of a two-stage process. The first stage is submission of a Letter of Intent (LOI) using The Rapides Foundation’s online application process only. Letters of Intent that are approved by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees at its February 2020 meeting will then be invited to submit a Full Proposal of their project. To see full details of the LOI and Full Proposal stages, please refer to the Request for Proposals.
Interested applicants are encouraged to contact The Rapides Foundation for guidance before submitting their Letter of Intent. Contact information is located in the right column.
