Foundation Releases Healthy Behaviors Program Grant

Foundation Releases Healthy Behaviors Program Grant

Deadline for Letters of Intent is December 19

The Rapides Foundation has released its Healthy Behaviors Program Grant. Through this grant opportunity, the Foundation seeks to prevent and reduce obesity and prevent and control tobacco use by funding communities committed to implementing strategic action and research-based prevention programs across the nine Central Louisiana parishes served by the Foundation.

The goal of this funding opportunity is to support nonprofit organizations, community groups and government entities to develop, implement, and enhance comprehensive community-based wellness and prevention projects focusing on evidence-based nutrition and physical activity and tobacco prevention and control strategies. Interested applicants should thoroughly review the funding opportunity details and deadlines in the Request for Proposals located on the Healthy Behaviors Program Grant web page located under the "Grants" tab.

Grants of up to $225,000 over a three-year period are available. Applicants must be nonprofit organizations classified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code, or a government organization. Grant proposals should impact residents within Allen, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Vernon or Winn parishes. The Foundation will consider only one application per organization or agency per grant cycle.

This is a two-stage grant process. The first step to apply for the Healthy Behaviors Program Grant is to submit a Letter of Intent by the deadline of Thursday, December 19, 2019. Approved Letters of Intent will be invited to submit a full proposal due to the Foundation by April 9, 2020. Letters of Intent must be submitted using the Foundation’s online application process. Complete details about the funding opportunity, including links to the online application, can be found on the Foundation’s website.

The mission of The Rapides Foundation is to improve the health status of Central Louisiana. Eating healthier, being active and not using tobacco are health behaviors that research shows can reduce the risk of some cancers, heart disease and diabetes. This funding opportunity is part of the Foundation’s Healthy Behaviors Initiative. Print
