Foundation announces new grant opportunity

The Rapides Foundation is accepting proposals under its Diet and Physical Activity Community Program.

A limited number of grants up to $25,000 each will be awarded for projects that encourage and improve physical activity and healthy eating among residents in nine Central Louisiana parishes: Allen, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Vernon and Winn. These grants are for nonprofits, government entities, faith-based community groups and community coalitions.

Grant funds must be used to establish new, or enhance existing, physical activity environments (walking or cycling trails, for example) or healthy food environments (such as farmers markets or community gardens). Funds may be used for both capital and programmatic expenses. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on April 15.

Download the Request for Proposal.
