Foundation Awards $1.9 million in Healthcare Occupations Grants

Grants awarded to help meet workforce needs in Central Louisiana

The Rapides Foundation recently awarded four grants totaling $1,875,260 to help meet the healthcare workforce needs of employers in Central Louisiana. Grants were awarded to the following postsecondary institutions serving students in the Foundation’s service area: Louisiana State University Eunice, Northwestern State University, Louisiana State University of Alexandria and Central Louisiana Technical Community College.

Grants will fund healthcare projects for K-12 students

The Rapides Foundation has awarded five grants totaling $4,450,025 to address shortages in the Central Louisiana healthcare workforce by developing an ongoing pool of K-12 students who are interested in pursuing healthcare careers and are academically prepared to succeed in postsecondary training programs.

Students across Central Louisiana participated in “Read with Malcolm” Reading Rallies as part of a three-day Geaux READ Tour presented by Share the Magic Foundation and The Rapides Foundation. Almost 3,500 students attended the rallies presented in nine schools August 29-31.
