Foundation Announces Future of HealthC.A.R.E. Funding Opportunity

Foundation Announces Future of HealthC.A.R.E. Funding Opportunity

Informational Webinar to be held March 14

The Rapides Foundation has released a new funding opportunity that addresses shortages in the healthcare workforce by supporting the development of an ongoing pool of K-12 students who are interested in pursuing healthcare careers and are academically prepared to succeed in postsecondary training programs.

The Future of HealthC.A.R.E. (Career, Academic Readiness and Exploration for Students) Program grant opportunity is offered under the Foundation's Healthcare Access Initiative.

Proposed projects under the grant opportunity must be submitted through a Letter of Intent by Monday, April 25. An Informational Webinar will be held on Monday, March 14 to explain details about the opportunity.

“Shortages in the healthcare workforce have been a critical issue for many years in our region,” said Joe Rosier, President and CEO of The Rapides Foundation. “The Foundation addresses this issue through grants at the postsecondary level to increase the number of graduates entering the workforce. We hope the new Future of HealthC.A.R.E. opportunity will provide an avenue for students to learn about healthcare occupations at an earlier age and will encourage students to pursue those careers.”

The new funding opportunity is open to eligible nonprofit organizations, public and private school districts, and accredited colleges and universities. Proposals should implement strategies to accomplish one or more of the following objectives: to increase awareness and exposure to healthcare occupations; to prepare students for the academic rigor of healthcare training programs; and to increase or build technical skills needed to work in healthcare occupations.

All projects should target students in grades K-12 and must be offered within the Foundation’s nine-parish service area. The Foundation strongly encourages partnerships in proposed projects.

This is a two-stage, competitive application process beginning with submission of a Letter of Intent by the April 25 deadline. Approved Letters of Intent will be invited to submit a Full Proposal for consideration, which will be due August 8. Full Proposals that are approved by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees will begin November 1 for a grant term of up to 68 months.

An Informational Webinar is scheduled for March 14 at 1 p.m. to discuss details about this funding opportunity and answer any questions applicants may have. Registration is required for the webinar; click HERE to register. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to schedule a call or meeting with Foundation staff to discuss alignment and feasibility of their Letter of Intent before submission. To request a meeting, contact the Foundation at least three weeks prior to the submission deadline at 318-767-3013.

All applications must be submitted using The Rapides Foundation’s online application process, which can be accessed by clicking HERE.
