Grace Christian wins top prize in Get Healthy Cenla Video Challenge

Grace Christian School of Alexandria won the $10,000 grand prize Tuesday night in the grand finale of the Get Healthy Cenla Video Challenge. The school’s 30-second video “Be Strange, Eat Healthy: the New Normal” won first place before a panel of expert judges.

Winning second place and a $5,000 prize was Avoyelles High School. The third-place winning team, LaSalle High School, won $2,500.

Grace Christian School team members will now work with media professionals during the summer to turn their original concept into a 30-second multimedia video that will be used for The Rapides Foundation's Diet and Physical Activity Initiative.

A total of 39 Central Louisiana high schools entered the challenge, which was to produce a 30-second commercial about healthy eating and exercise for the Foundation. The list was narrowed to the top 10 after an online voting and judging process.

At the grand finale Tuesday night hosted by celebrity Faith Ford, the top 10 teams presented their concepts before a panel of judges, who decided the top three winners.

The other top finalists were Bolton High, Elizabeth High, Glenmora High, Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, Plainview High, Tioga High and Winnfield Senior High schools.
