Video Challenge Finale Airing Live Online

The Get Healthy Cenla Video Challenge Film Festival will be broadcast live online Tuesday night, May 10, allowing everyone the chance to see which high school team wins the $10,000 grand prize.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. May 10 and held at Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center in Alexandria for ticketed guests. However, anyone with internet capabilities can log on to www.rapidesfoundation.org to watch the finals live.

At the event, which will be hosted by celebrity Faith Ford, the top 10 high school teams will make one last presentation before a panel of expert judges. The top three winners will then be decided and revealed. The winning team will get $10,000 for their school and their video will be reproduced for The Rapides Foundation’s Diet and Physical Activity Initiative. The second-place team will win $5,000 and the third-place team $2,500.

Thirty-nine high schools from throughout Central Louisiana entered the contest by creating a 30-second commercial on the importance of healthy eating and physical activity. The list was narrowed to 10 following an online judging process.

The top 10 videos can be viewed at www.rapidesfoundation.org. The schools in the running are Avoyelles High, Bolton High, Elizabeth High, Glenmora High, Grace Christian, LaSalle High, Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, Plainview High, Tioga High and Winnfield Senior High. Print
