CDW Announces 2014 Fall Training Calendar

Community Development Works, a program of The Rapides Foundation, is offering skill-building training for Cenla residents and nonprofits. All workshops and webinars are available free of charge. Webinars are only one hour long from 11 a.m.-noon and can be accessed from most devices using the GoToWebinar app. Workshops take place at The Rapides Foundation Building, 1101 Fourth St., Alexandria.

Register for workshops or webinars at Training offerings are presented within five topic areas: Start-up for Nonprofits, Grant Writing, Fund Development, Human Resources, and Marketing. Upcoming offerings include:

Start-up Workshop: To Be or Not To Be a 501(c)(3) with Felicia Walker on Thursday, September 4. Receive an overview on how to start a nonprofit organization, including how to file with the Secretary of State’s office and IRS.

Human Resources Workshop: Fostering Relationships and Managing Conflicts with Sue Schleifer on Tuesday, September 9. Learn strategies for strengthening relationships and managing conflicts due to differences of opinion, personalities, etc.

Grant Writing Workshop: Introduction to Finding Funders with Felicia Walker on Tuesday, September 16. Learn to find funders with the Foundation Center’s comprehensive funding research tool.

Marketing Webinar Series: Three-part series on Facebook: Setting up a page, Engagement and Promoting Events with Lauren Coudrain. Runs weekly starting Thursday, September 11, from 11 a.m.-noon.

Fund Development Workshop: Build an Effective Legacy Program with Carolyn Chassee on Thursday, October 16. Understand how to use planned giving to build an endowment and engage the community in your cause.
