CDW announces 2012 Spring Training Calendar

Community Development Works, a program of The Rapides Foundation, has posted its spring schedule of nonprofit management training for Cenla residents. In addition to onsite workshops, CDW has added webinar trainings this year. All workshops and webinars are free of charge. Webinars can be completed from your home or office computer. Onsite workshops will be held at The Rapides Foundation Building, 1101 Fourth St., Alexandria. Registration for workshops or webinars can be done online.

• Workshop: Introduction to the Community Builders Workspace. Learn about CDW’s civic engagement resources to assist with researching community problems, analyzing relevant data, and facilitating solution-focused dialogue to address community issues.

• Webinar: Board Engagement—Tools for Invigorating Your Board. This workshop for executive directors and board presidents will give you tools and techniques to energize, fully utilize and value your board.

• Webinar: Online Communications for Nonprofits Using Social Media and Free Online Tools. Learn to use social media and other online tools to communicate with board members, staff, volunteers and constituents. Learn how as a nonprofit, you can take advantage of powerful online communications tools at no cost.

• Webinar:  Volunteer Recruiting—Back to the Basics. Volunteers are the worker bees for nonprofit organizations.  Learn to formulate your action plan first and then let it guide the selection of really dedicated individuals who fit your organization’s needs.

• Webinar:  Effective Use of CPA Services—Audits and Other Alternatives. This course will review the various services that can be provided by CPAs and the related advantages and disadvantages of each, as well as those required as a result of governmental and non-governmental grants and contracts.

CDW provides public training, leadership programs and informational services in support of citizen-led community development efforts that address local issues in our region. CDW assists residents, nonprofit organizations, churches and faith-based groups, governmental entities and businesses in working together to increase the quality of life in the Central Louisiana community.
