Foundation Announces Healthy Behaviors Initiative Program Grant Opportunity

Foundation Announces Healthy Behaviors Initiative Program Grant Opportunity

Letter of Intent Submission Deadline: December 19, 2022

The Rapides Foundation has released its Healthy Behaviors Initiative Program Grant to support implementation of evidence-based, community-driven solutions targeting behaviors addressed in the Foundation’s initiative.

The new funding opportunity is available to eligible organizations seeking to develop, implement and enhance comprehensive community-based wellness and prevention projects focusing in the areas of tobacco prevention and control, healthy eating and active living, and substance and alcohol abuse prevention.

“Obesity, tobacco use and substance and alcohol abuse are complex problems that require a multifaceted approach,” said Joe Rosier, President and CEO of The Rapides Foundation. “The good news is that evidence-based interventions are available and the Foundation has developed this funding opportunity to encourage local organizations, community advocates, churches and neighborhoods to come together in partnership to influence health within their communities.”

The Healthy Behaviors Initiative Program Grant awards up to $300,000 over the grant term. This is a two-stage, competitive application process beginning with submission of a Letter of Intent by the December 19 deadline. Approved Letters of Intent will be invited to submit a Full Proposal for consideration, which will be due April 10, 2023. Full Proposals that are approved by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees will have a grant term of up to 3 years and will begin on July 3, 2023. All applications must be submitted using The Rapides Foundation’s online application process, which can be accessed on the Foundation’s website under the Grants tab.

All projects must be offered within the Foundation’s nine-parish service area. The Foundation strongly encourages partnerships in proposed projects. Prospective applicants are encouraged to schedule a call or meeting with Foundation staff to discuss alignment and feasibility of their Letter of Intent before submission.
