Cancer Screening Van to make stop in Rapides Parish

The Cenla Medication Access Program’s cancer screening van will visit Alexandria on March 6-7 to offer Rapides Parish residents colorectal, breast and cervical cancers screenings. The van will be parked at 5604 Coliseum Boulevard from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, and from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7. Services include free clinical breast exams, mammograms, Pap smears, pelvic exams and take-home colorectal cancer kits. Appointments are required.

Annual breast and cervical screenings are recommended for women ages 40-64, and colorectal screenings for men and women ages 50-64. Residents should contact the Cancer Screening Project at 318-767-3027 to see if they meet income and insurance qualifications prior to making an appointment.

The screening van is a partnership between The Rapides Foundation, CMAP and the Partners in Wellness Program at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center at LSU-Shreveport.

To request an appointment, please call Cancer Screening Specialist Lori Belgard at 318-767-3027. For more information, please visit the CMAP website.
