Education

The Rapides Foundation's Education Initiative seeks to increase the level of educational attainment and achievement as the primary path to improved economic, social and health status. Research tells us that when people are more educated, their health is better.

The Education Initiative builds upon the longstanding work and relationships between the Foundation and the nine public school districts in our service area. Our grantmaking strategy is implemented through the Effective Schools and School Readiness components, the Career and Postsecondary Readiness component and by funding professional development opportunities for teachers and school leaders.

The Orchard Foundation, a nonprofit local education fund established by The Rapides Foundation, administers many of the programs developed under The Rapides Foundation's Education Initiative.
