Job Opening: Youth Volunteer Corps Team Leader
Community Development Works My Civic Life Program
Community Development Works (CDW) seeks a temporary, part-time (averaging up to 20 hours per week) Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) Team Leader based in Vernon Parish. The position is responsible for planning frequent, diverse, high-quality service-learning projects, and for recruiting, training and supervising teams of youth volunteers. CDW is a program of The Rapides Foundation.
The ideal candidate would have strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, basic computer skills, volunteer experience, and an independent, self-motivated work style. Experience working with middle and high school age youth and knowledge of service learning activities is preferred. Applicants must have access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license; be at least 18 years old; be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident alien; have a high school diploma or equivalent; submit to a full background check, including a sex offender registry check, state criminal history registry check, and FBI fingerprint-based check.
The YVC Team Leader plays a critical role in meeting the objectives of CDW's My Civic Life and YVC Club programs, including engaging youth in team-based service learning projects so they will become engaged in their communities and make volunteerism a lifelong habit, as well as develop needed employment skills.
