The Rapides Foundation Is Bringing High School Redesign To The Forefront Of Cenla's Education Agenda

The Education Trust And The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Took Part In The Foundation's First High School Summit. Education leaders across the country are calling for the transformation of the traditional comprehensive high school into a 21st century learning institution that supports college and workforce success for all students and The Rapides Foundation is answering the call.

Foundation Earmarks $1 Million for Local Relief Agencies to Assist Katrina/Rita Evacuees

The Rapides Foundation is providing $1 million to go to agencies that are providing assistance to Hurricane Katrina/Rita evacuees in Central Louisiana. The money will go to the United Way of Central Louisiana, which has set up a special fund – the Central Louisiana Katrina/Rita Response Fund. The United Way has established this Fund in order to provide shelter and other needed assistance for evacuees in our area.

Learning Lab Receives National Designation

The Community Development Works (CDW) Learning Lab has been designated as a Foundation Center Cooperating Collection site. This distinction will allow the Lab to better serve grantseekers in the region by acquiring Foundation Center resources for grantseeking and grant writing. The Foundation Center is a nonprofit organization headquartered in New York City. The Center performs research on charitable giving, presents information on U.S. philanthropies, and helps grantseekers find funding and program information.

The Cenla Medication Access Program (CMAP) has been awarded the Rural Health Program of the Year by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). The award is being presented in New Orleans on May 20, 2005 during the 28th NRHA Annual Conference, the largest national meeting devoted to addressing rural health issues and the educational needs of those who practice, work and live in rural areas.
