A high school program that prepares students for careers in the forest products industry began its fourth year with welcome orientations on Wednesday, Aug. 25. Due to the large number of students enrolled in the program this year, there were two orientation sessions: one at 9:30 a.m. for Allen Parish schools and one at 11 a.m. for Grant, Rapides and Vernon parish schools. Both events were at the RoyOMartin corporate offices in Alexandria.
The Cenla Medication Access Program’s cancer screening van will visit Allen Parish in September to help residents get checked for colorectal, breast and cervical cancers. The van will be at CMAP’s Oakdale office, 107 South 12th St., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8.
Community Development Works, a program of The Rapides Foundation, has posted its Fall 2010 Training Calendar. All workshops are available free of charge to any Central Louisiana resident and will be held at The Rapides Foundation Building, 1101 Fourth St., Alexandria.
