Cenla Medication Access Program (CMAP) is a program that is helping provide medications for chronic conditions as well as medication education on the importance of appropriate medication usage. The Rapides Foundation is funding a three-component approach to help individuals receive their needed prescription medications.
First, we began enrolling patients at Huey P. Long's Medical Center-England Airpark Outpatient Pharmacy Program on May 1, 2001. Since opening we have enrolled more than 8,000 clients and the pharmacy has dispensed over 480,000 prescriptions. The program has saved HPL patients close to $25 million in drug cost. Eligible patients are able to receive medications on the formulary for a $3 cash processing fee per medication up to a maximum of $36 per visit.
The second component was the CMAP Card System. However, the system was phased out as of Dec. 31, 2001. For information on how this will affect you, please call the CMAP office at 318-443-7494 or 1-888-443-7494 or visit www.cmaprx.org.
The third component of the system is the Patient Assistance Program (PAP). PAP provides client assistance to Allen, Avoyelles, Catahoula, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Vernon, and Winn Parish physicians in getting their patients enrolled in manufacturers prescription drug benefit programs. If anyone is interested in learning more about the Patient Assistance Program, please feel free to contact our office and we will be glad to answer any questions you may have. Our Patient Assistance Program is working with 200 physicians. The program has assisted over 7,300 individuals with over 104,000 applications for free or low cost medications at a cost savings of more than $26 million to our patients.
