Announcing a grant opportunity
The Rapides Foundation is accepting proposals under its Diet and Physical Activity Community Program.
A limited number of grants up to $25,000 each will be awarded for projects that encourage and improve physical activity and healthy eating among residents in nine Central Louisiana parishes: Allen, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Vernon and Winn.
These grants are for nonprofits, government entities and faith-based community groups.
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on April 2.

The cameras will be rolling again for some lucky high school students in Central Louisiana as The Rapides Foundation announces the 2012 Video Challenge. Videos will focus on the importance of students getting training and skills to prepare for a career after high school.

The Rapides Foundation is accepting proposals for grants that encourage and improve physical activity and healthy eating among residents in Central Louisiana. These Community Implementation Grants are for nonprofit organizations, government entities and faith-based community groups located in Allen, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Vernon and Winn parishes. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on April 2.

The Cenla Work Ready Network 2012 Workforce Summit, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 16, is intended to help employers and other community leaders understand the benefits of using the National Career Readiness Certificate to build a work-ready region in Central Louisiana. This free event will be from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the Sai Convention Center in Alexandria and will welcome employers, educators and economic development professionals to collaborate and share the benefits of this nationally recognized certification.
